Celebrate Earth Day with us on April 22nd! At Lovepop, paper lies at the core of our business, so we are dedicated to doing our part to preserve the environment. All of our cards are 100% recyclable and we are continually striving to improve our impact with a commitment to sustainable forestry and supporting environmental initiatives.
We believe that love is the foundation for a brighter world, and it grows when it is shared. Here are a few simple ways that you can share love for the Earth in celebration of Earth Day. You’d be surprised how much of an impact these few changes can have on a brighter world!
Monday: Use a refillable water bottle or coffee cup
Set yourself up for success this week with a few reusable containers. Whether it’s a water bottle, glass container for your lunch, or a metal straw for your coffee, these few little changes can make such a big difference for the environment. Once using them becomes a habit, you’ll never look back on your old ways! Tuesday: Ride your bike or go for a walk
Schedule some time for fresh air. Whether you want to start your day off with a beautiful bike ride or you need a midday pick-me-up after endless meetings, getting your heart beating, lungs breathing, and body moving will make all the difference in your day. Not to mention, opting to ride your bike or walk to an errand saves emissions!
Wednesday: Add some green to your space
Not only do plants add a fun touch to your home’s decor, they can also have many benefits on your health. Not all of us are born with a natural green thumb, but plants like pothos can thrive in most environments with little effort. According to a study done by NASA, pothos plants remove pollutants such as benzene, toluene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and xylene from the air. Thursday: Learn something cool about nature
The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22nd of 1970! Did you know that recycling one aluminum can can save enough energy to run a TV for three hours? How about that every day, American businesses generate enough paper to circle the earth 20 times? Find a subject that interests you and research it—knowledge is power!
Friday: Make another meal out of your leftovers
Food waste is a huge global issue! Whether you are a home chef extraordinaire or live off of local takeout spots, you’re bound to end up with some leftovers in your fridge at some point. Challenge yourself to eat up everything in your fridge so that no food goes to waste this week. You may even be able to combine leftovers to make something even tastier than the original!
Saturday: Find a local farmers market (and bring your reusable bags!) Buying local produce not only gives you super yummy and nutritious food—it also supports a farmer in your area. Another benefit of shopping at your local farmers’ market includes cutting down on the emissions caused by shipping produce at its “prime” across the country, or even globally to any given grocery store. Don’t forget your reusable bag!
Sunday: Support a small, sustainable business
Shop local! You’ve probably heard this time and time again but think about it—you’re supporting your community by giving money to a local business owner as opposed to a large corporation. By choosing a small local shop, you’re reducing emissions caused by transport and freight. While it’s not always feasible, having the conscious thought to make the switch is one step in the right direction for a brighter world.
